Trip Plan : Winter Break in Portugal

Wow, it’s been a while. Sooo…I got married. And Aimee’s getting married in 3 weeks. Ha ha ha, I know what that feels like. That was the last time I had a moment free to blog.

Was inspired to get back into the swing of things by a couple of beautiful (and affordable!) hotels featured on Jetsetter that looked like a great excuse for a winter getaway to a place I’ve always wanted to visit—Portugal!

Round-trip flights are averaging $700 for the month of January right now (even MLK weekend!), not super cheap, but not bank-breaking either. And Jetsetter‘s flash sales (ending in 2 days—sorry I’m slow to blog), means you’ll be saving on hotels instead. Also reasonable are Portugal’s temperatures—highs around 60° F and lows around 45° F.

I’m thinking the trip would start with a couple days in Lisbon, staying in the very sexy Bairro Alto Hotel (Jetsetter flash sale rates are $205 a nite).

After a few days in Lisbon, we’d make the 3 hour trip south to Sagres and the ($101 a nite Jetsetter rate) Memmo Baleeira Hotel. Its all white modernist rooms are in stark contrast to the windswept coastline outside the window, and a long walk in the surrounding Costa Vicentina Natural Park followed by a swim in the indoor sounds like the perfect way to spend a warm winter afternoon.
